Clean Power Development LLC today announced that The Dupont Group has been retained to act as the company's government affairs representatives.

Clean Power President Mel Liston said, "With our renewable energy projects advancing into the next stage of development, we want to make sure we have the best strategic advice and assistance available as we work with state government and the business community. We are on the cusp of developing a new generation of renewable energy projects in NH, and that brings with it the opportunity to work with local, state and business leaders to ensure that these projects represent the needs, goals and desires of all concerned. Clean Power is convinced that the Dupont Group's proven record of helping to facilitate these type of efforts will add to the strong team we have already assembled."

The Dupont Group is a leading government affairs and business consulting firm located in Concord, NH. The firm has a strong presence in the energy field and has done extensive work in the development of emerging merchant and renewable energy markets in NH. Firm founder and President Ed Dupont said, "Clean Power Development has emerged as the leading developer of the next generation of renewable biomass in NH, and we are eager to help advance their projects in the months to come."

Clean Power Development is currently developing several significant biomass, wood to energy facilities in the state. Their lead project, the Clean Power Berlin facility, in Berlin NH, has progressed through the local and regional permitting processes, and with its state permits pending, is poised to move into its project financing and construction phase. This project will produce 29 megawatts of electrical and thermal power and utilize approximately 325,000 tons of biomass harvested in NH's North Country.

Jim Monahan, Vice President of the Dupont Group said, "Passage of the renewable portfolio standards law and the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, combined with aggressive renewable energy policies in the federal stimulus package, creates a meaningful opportunity for NH to get a jump start on the next round of energy projects in the region. We hope to work with CPD and the State to ensure that progress continues and that we are able to take advantage of every opportunity available to create green jobs and develop sustainable energy. "

Dupont added, "Clean Power Development offers a lot of civic leadership in NH's energy community, and teaming up with them will, we hope, have a very positive impact on future energy policy in NH."
