Government
Relations
On
the average 1,000 bills are filed in the New Hampshire Legislature
each year. The vast majority of them will never see the
newspaper.
That's
where The
Dupont Group
comes in.
Knowing
what the legislation says is only half the story. Being
acquainted with and understanding the agendas, the factions,
the politics, and the policy is essential in seeing the
whole picture. Our objectives are to provide clients with
expert, focused, advocacy before the state Legislature.
We bring to our clients the capability to address a wide
variety of issues from day one. Our experience includes
work before every policy committee in the House and Senate,
meaning that we start a project with a rapport with the
legislators. We supply candid, straightforward advice and
help clients determine goals. The varied experiences of
our lobbyists, knowledge of the political landscape and
the relationships we have built over the years have put
us in a unique position to create a winning strategy for
our clients.
In recent
years, The
Dupont Group
has been successful in a number of high-profile legislative
efforts. We played a leading role in the fight to deregulate
New Hampshire's electricity market and were influential
in the major restructuring of the state's business taxes.
We played a key role in numerous changes to the state's
pari-mutuel gaming laws, including the gaming tax laws and
were the principal force in the writing and adoption of
the State Pari-mutuel Commission's account and telephone
wagering rules. As the representative firm for the Retail
Merchants Association of New Hampshire, we took the lead
in the successful fight against a serious effort to impose
a sales tax in New Hampshire. That effort included grassroots
strategy and issue-oriented paid media, and resulted in
a lopsided defeat for the proposal.
